Reflection on International Mother Language Week

by Sophie Schmersel (Y7)

From my experience, there are many advantages of knowing many languages. Firstly, you can travel and explore several countries you might want to visit where you can speak with local and get to know their amazing cultures much better. Secondly, you can make more friends, especially at TES where many people speak many different mother tongues. It can also help open doors in the future when you are looking for job opportunities that require bilingualism or multilingualism. What I’m trying to encourage people to do is to learn more languages, because it’s very useful and fun to learn. Personally, I speak five different languages and I hope to learn more in the future!
